Tim Dufel, engineer and co-owner of NYS Marine Highway Transportation Company, gives a brief tour of the Margot’s lower engine room. The Margot has a 1,400 horsepower, eight cylinder, two stroke, opposing piston Fairbanks Morse engine. At 650 RPMs, the prop spins at 260 revolutions. Though it appears cramped to the causal observer, the layout for this engine room is fairly spacious and easy to navigate.
